Monarch Spindle Repair Case Study

Monarch turning center spindle repair

Motor City Spindle Repair Received the Monarch Machining Center Spindle, which was locked up after failing. Once inspected by one of our Spindle Technicians, it was found that the Spindle Flange was not properly sealed, allowing coolant to enter the bearings, which caused the lubrication to be washed out and produce excessive heat and vibration. In addition, bearing spacers and the CAT 40 tooling Tapper were worn, so they were sent out for Chrome and Grind work. New spindle components were ordered, including Seals, O-rings, Steel Angular Contact Bearings and Steel Roller Bearings.  Once all components were received by our facility the Monarch Spindle was rebuilt by one of our Skilled Spindle Technicians. The spindle was then Precisely Balanced, both statically and dynamically, to ensure the accuracy and longevity of the spindles production. The Monarch was test run for four(4) hours at the maximum speed of 8,000 RPM, to make sure the spindle would run well for a long time to come.
